The Regional Controller will be responsible for all financial matters for their region.  This will include all financial records, timely reporting, annual budgets, periodic forecasts, ad hoc reporting and analysis, A/R collections and management of the staff person. The Regional Controller will also establish a positive working relationship with Regional SVP and all of the Area and General Managers in the region and provide them with the support necessary to operate their base / region.  The Regional Controller will also work with the Controller, Business Operations to provide any information that may be requested by Corporate.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
       Daily:
  • Directly manage the Accounting Mgr. that reports to him/her.
  • At the request of the Regional VP periodically provide a summary of the day’s activity.
  • Review Daily Monitoring report provided by Corporate.
  • Review all vendor invoices over certain threshold for reasonableness. This applies to any invoices that come in from the bases in his/her region. Contact and discuss any questions with the General Managers.
  • Communicate with customers with any invoicing questions.
  • Review and approve all fuel price change requests.
  • Assist the locations with any questions they may have regarding AP, AR, Inventory, JetStream, recurring rent, etc.
Monthly:
  • Review Accrual, Standard, Recurring, and Miscellaneous journal entries for each base.
  • Approve journal entries entered into Blackline system. Run Trial Balance and review for accuracy. Contact General Managers to review any questions. Email a copy of the Trial Balance to General Managers for their review.
  • Run Financial Statements and review for accuracy. Review with Vice President of Finance and Director of Operations and answer any questions they may have. Send Financial Statements to General Managers and review them.
  • Provide comments for variances between budgets or forecast. Send to General Managers for their preparation of the monthly Performance Review memos.
  • Review with Corporate Management on monthly conference call.
  • Review the account reconciliations in Blackline that the accounting managers have prepared.
  • Review and file any sales or fuel tax return for the region’s bases. Review the open AFE list, send out to the GM’s and provide any closures to the Asset Team.
Yearly:
  • In conjunction with the GM’s, prepare Forecasts for all bases during the year as requested by Vice President of Finance.
  • In conjunction with the GM’s, prepare yearly Budgets for all bases. Make site visits to work with General Managers to prepare each of their budgets. Review all Budgets with Director of Operations.
  • Attend Budget Meeting at corporate office and review with Corporate Management.
  • Make periodic site visits to bases for performance reviews and any other meeting that would require a visit.
  • Review the quarterly and annual bonuses for applicable Field employees as well as review the annual pay increases prior to submission to Corp. 
General:
  • Any additional duties that may be specific or unique to your Region assigned by Management.

Skills & Qualifications

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years accounting or finance experience
  • Blackline and Workday Adaptive experience not required but preferred.
  • Understanding of how operations of the business translate into financial results.
  • Ability to meet deadlines as assigned.
  • Ability to work without direct day to day supervision.
